I am travelling by public transport. What are my options?

Applicant Days at Canterbury
Canterbury has two train stations – Canterbury East and Canterbury West. From the train stations, you can travel to the campus by bus (journey time to campus is approximately 15 minutes). Buses depart from Canterbury Bus Station at the times below and call at Canterbury East train station shortly afterwards.

If you are arriving at Canterbury West, please exit the station, turn right and walk to the end of the road. Cross the road at the zebra crossing and the bus stop is on the left. Once you arrive on campus, please get off the bus at the bus turning circle adjacent to Keynes College.

Local bus services:

  • Travelling to the campus from Canterbury bus station and train stations: Bio Unibus (Uni1, Uni2) and Number 4 service
  • Travelling back to the train stations and bus station/city centre (buses depart from the bus turning circle adjacent to Keynes College): Bio Unibus (Uni1 for Canterbury East train station, Uni2 for Canterbury West train station)

Applicant Days at Medway

Chatham train station is the most accessible station for the Medway campus and has regular services from Charing Cross, Waterloo East, London Bridge, Cannon Street, London Victoria, Ramsgate and Dover.

A high speed service is available from London St Pancras to Ebbsfleet International with a journey time of approximately 20 minutes. From Ebbsfleet, you can catch a connecting train to Chatham which takes approximately 20 minutes.

Arriva bus services:

  • Number 116 runs to and from Hempstead Valley - Gillingham - Universities@Medway - Chatham and allows you to travel directly onto the Medway campus. This is known as the Chatham Central Avenue stop.
  • Number 191 runs to and from Chatham bus and train stations and the Medway campus and stops at Chatham Central Avenue on campus.
  • Number100,  leaves frequently from the bus stop outside Chatham train station and takes approximately 15 minutes to get to the bus stop on Dock Road outside the entrance to the Medway campus. This is known as the Compass Centre stop or the Chatham Maritime stop.


Train timetables are available online from National Rail or the Trainline. Local bus timetables for Medway can be found on the Arriva website and taxis are available at Chatham train station.
