What is the difference between MSc Business Analytics and MSc Management Science?

MSc Business Analytics focusses on data analysis and prediction.  Although it is not as technical as the MSc Management Science, applicants are required to have some quantitative background.

To meet the growing demand for graduates with analytics capabilities, the MSc Business Analytics degree equips you with the latest analytics tools to analyse and interpret data, forecast future trends, automate and streamline decisions, and optimise courses of action. Emphasis is placed on learning fundamental analytics techniques, such as statistical analysis, data mining, forecasting and regression, optimisation, simulation and spreadsheet modelling among others.

MSc in Management Science degree is the more technical and statistics based programme of the two where you will study optimisation, in addition to data analysis and prediction.  For this reason we require a good first degree from a strong quantitative discipline, such as Statistics, Logistics, Mathematics, Engineering or any other mathematically-based Natural Science discipline.

The MSc in Management Science is about prescriptives and heuristics that will equip you with advanced quantitative and analysis skills to support decision making, identify the best course of action in complex business situations and optimise processes, procedures and performance. Emphasis is placed on learning fundamental techniques from the fields of management science and operational research. These include optimisation, simulation, inventory control, queuing theory, statistical analysis, decision support systems and problem structuring methods among others.  Students will learn how to apply mathematical modelling to help solve complex strategic, operational and managerial planning problems in a variety of settings, including transport, manufacturing, supply chains, finance, government, and sport.
